One key focus of the readings and discussions this semester in my feminist debates class is developing and practicing a feminist curiosity. In my own work, I am interested in reflecting on curiosity (and tracking how it is understood and represented in mainstream culture/popular imagination). So, when a student in my politics of sex class posted a video about Brittany Spears’ perfume, “Curious,” I felt inspired to do a quick post on a few representations of curiosity:
Example One: Do you dare?
Example Two: Are you curious?
Example Three: Questioning as resistance?
I don’t have any time to analyze these examples right now, but I am struck by the different ways in which they use “curiosity” to make/stake their claims.
